Live from linux: life on the commons

Just a quick little note of triumph: I have installed Ubuntu linux on my Mac Powerbook laptop and am happily writing this note from linux. I’d like to take credit for this as an act of technical prowess on my part but the fact is that the whole process was very smooth. That is, “smooth” for a linux installation, which means that I only once had to go search the Ubuntu message boards/wiki to resolve a problem, and only had one heart-stopping moment when I thought I might have hosed the whole hard drive.

It was so smooth, in fact, that I’m going to have to make some sort of donation to Ubuntu. It’s always important to be a good citizen of the commons.
