Morning in America, digital commons version

A very good pieces of news regarding the digital commons.

The Net Neutrality Coalition announces that the end of the 109th Congress means that HR 5252, the Communications Opportunity, Promotion and Enhancement Act of 2006, is now officially dead! A big round in this fight has gone to The People, and more importantly, it went to us because we actually got up and fought for once.

Looking ahead, I am thinking that the best defense is a good offense. Maybe this is a good time to revisit the Copyright Modernization Act of 2006 campaign that was discussed by the good people over at Public Knowledge. After all, Web 2.0 is the big buzzword of the moment, and nothing will accelerate Web 2.0 more than a nice, generous, rational expansion of fair use.
