The Asus Eee: God Bless Capitalism

30Jul07

I have been waiting for something like this for a couple of years. A laptop that weighs two pounds, comes with Linux installed, and costs $200. A perfect example of the great things capitalism can do when properly centered in a context of commodity profit margins and open source software. I do believe it’s time to install Tiger on my Mac G4 and get it cleaned up for transfer to my wife.

The story is at http://www.hothardware.com/Articles/Hands_on_with_the_ASUS_Eee/, and thanks to Slashdot for letting me know about this.

What’s the screen size on it? I like small laptops, but need big screens.

  2. The original story in Slashdot says that there will be 7″ and 10″ versions. Here’s the link to the Slashdot entry: http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/07/30/1853241.
